Counseling Services

From the outside things may seem fine — even when on the inside we feel frustrated, dissatisfied, or lost. It can be hard to put this experience into words and this makes it difficult to know how to start feeling better. Counseling is a place where you can learn to better understand yourself and your struggles so you can start taking steps towards a life that is nourishing and meaningful to you.

My Office

I provide individual therapy for adults and older adolescents

Although I primarily see clients over the age of 18, I do also work with older teenagers when my approach seems likely to be a good fit.

I am experienced with a wide range of concerns

My training and practice has been as a generalist, which means that I am well prepared to help with a wide variety of issues that might bring you to therapy. This is true whether you are seeking support coping with a difficult situation or life transition, or you are struggling with a mental health issue such as anxiety or depression.

I am available in-person or virtually

I offer appointments in-person at my office in Delmar, NY and am also available for virtual sessions through confidential video-chat.

  • If you are new to therapy, it is a non-judgmental space where we will have a conversation about your experiences, thoughts, and feelings.

I work to create an environment that is warm, collaborative, and transparent. I will be highly engaged throughout the session, will ask you questions, and share my thoughts. I will share direct feedback in a way that is kind but also challenging. I strive to communicate clearly on the direction of our work— you should know what we’re working on and how we’re working on it.

I approach mental health as a relationship between a person and their world. In session, this means we will be looking to better understand your personal patterns, while also working to challenge expectations of how we’re “supposed to be.” Being more connected to and trusting of your own experience will allow you to take steps towards shaping your life in a way that is more nourishing and meaningful to you.

  • I graduated from the APA accredited Doctor of Psychology program at Springfield College where I was trained as a Counseling Psychologist. This means that in addition to being well versed in issues like anxiety, depression, and trauma, I also focus on understanding each individual in the context of their own story, culture, and development.

My experience prior to starting my private practice included providing individual and group psychotherapy to adult clients. In the past I have worked in college counseling centers and a community-based behavioral health clinic. I practice as a generalist, which has helped me gain knowledge and experience around a wide variety of concerns that can bring people to therapy.

  • My fee for an initial diagnostic session is $200, and the fee for regular 50-minute therapy sessions is $150.

I accept payment via cash, check, credit/debit card, and can also accept payment via Health Savings Account cards.

I work with individuals who choose to use their insurance benefit to pay for part or all of therapy, as well as individuals who prefer to pay privately. If you choose to pay privately without the use of insurance, you are entitled to a good faith estimate of costs– click here for more details.

  • Currently, I am in-network with the following insurances:

    • Aetna

    • CDPHP

    • Empire BlueCross BlueShield

    • BlueCross/BlueShield “BlueCard” Network

    • Meritain Health

    • Optum

    • Oscar Health

    • Oxford

    • UMR

    • UnitedHealthcare UHC | UBH

If you participate in a different insurance group then I am considered “out of network.” There is a chance your insurance company will still pay some of my fees as an out of network provider. In this situation I will not submit insurance claims for you. Instead, you will pay me the full fee for each session and I will give you a receipt for my services that includes the information insurers need to pay you back if allowed by your contract.

  • If you are interested in working with me, please get in touch! You can do this either by giving me a call (518-423-5157) or by sending me a text (same number) or e-mail message (andrew@vincentpsychology.com). Simply let me know your name, the best way to get in touch with you, and say that you are interested in working with me and would like to set up a time for a consultation call.

The consultation call is free and gives you a chance to ask me any questions you may have. It will also give me the chance to better understand your goals for therapy so I can give you a better sense of what it would look like for us to work together.
